Picking at Acne while Reading Bill Knott
The whine of increasing revolutions, warming up to speed
Each planned item clicks into place.
Today my primary pimple
The zit that begs to be popped and promises that it will make a noise
Is on my lip. Its head is concave.
So must Bill Knott’s be misshapen
With his German philosophers,
Those familiar with Dr. Benn’s symbology…
Will recognize some of the themes and conflicts here
Antique affectations like alliteration
And dissonance
Who gives a shit about language anyway
Language is the hard-yellowed rice kernel
Pressed from the flesh of metaphor by the fingernails of
Culture…
You’ll see what I mean, I Xeroxed and highlighted some
Sections and left them in your mailbox
Especially you should note the list of poems that I loved.
