This install was a huge pain in the ass, I tried several different distribution disks and was finally successful with a copy of the boxed RedHat 6.2 disk. Now everything works except power management, but since the laptop is essentially an email terminal, it doesn't need to shut down much. With the default install of Windows 98, it would lose sound after APM sleep, and would need rebooting at least once a day. It's now been up for 55 days...
